PlanetDrock is getting out of control. It’s now full of articles about servers, video games, and some weird software UmmCam uses. I think it’s time we dumb it down a bit and take on a subject a little more light hearted. That is, it’s time we had a discussion about Tinder. Ahh yes, the wonderful world of Tinder; where any man and any woman can be thrust into a digital relationship with the mere swipe of a screen. It’s not for the faint of heart, and it’s not for those who prefer serious romantic encounters. Instead, Tinder is playground for free spirit singles looking for casual hookups. It’s also a hotbed of hilarious one-liners, pick up lines, and conversations. Courtesy of EpicTinder.com we have compiled the top five funniest tinder conversations of 2014.
I hope you laugh as hard as I did while compiling this.
1. Introducing the Tinder name hack
When selecting an opener its important that you choose something that will catch the attention of your Tindermate. After all, first impressions are everything these days, and you might only get one shot. There are a ton of different ways to go about it, but one of the most popular is using the persons name in a way that is slick and funny. At EpicTinder they refer to this as a namehack.
2. Setting your Tinder Profile to auto-sort
One clever way to sort out “bad apples” is to add some instructions to your Tinder profile. For example, you might drop instructions such as swipe right if interested in casual sex, swipe left if pregnant, swipe right if model, Swipe left if have kid, etc. However, if you are going to leave instructions, you should make sure they don’t lead to conflicting results – as was the case in this Tinder fail.
3. Don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself
On When you get started on Tinder you’re probably going to be a little bit nervous. That’s okay, this is normal, especially if you haven’t been in the dating scene that long. But once you get in the ryhtm of things you will see that conversations on Tinder are anything but sincere. That’s why, the best strategy is sometimes to go with the bizarre.
4. Look out for the fakes
On It should come as no surprise that a social application such as Tinder is the target of spammers worldwide. If you spend enough time on Tinder (which is like 3 to 5 minutes) it is pretty much a given that you will eventually come across a spammer using a fake profile. These accounts are usually bots, but in some cases, these spam accounts are operated by real people. Either way, any time you come across a spam account the best thing to do is have a little fun with it.
5. Sometimes, you just have to ask
When in doubt, come right out. I’m not talking about the closet (unless that’s what you are into of course.) Instead, what I am advocating is a policy of overt forwardness. On Tinder, it’s okay to tell the other person you’re interested in a solitary physical act. If they can’t understand that, then they probably shouldn’t be on Tinder in the first place. There’s no need to be subtle and no need to be classy. Tinder was built on drunken one-night stands and I’ll be damned if that is ever going to change! So, if you want to hook up with someone, just ask.
